What is Cerebral Palsy (Spastic Tetraparesis) and Developmental Delay?

Cerebral Palsy (CP) is a group of neurological disorders caused by brain damage during early development. Spastic tetraparesis is one of its most severe forms, affecting all four limbs. Muscles remain in a state of constant, extreme tension (spasticity), which restricts movement, causes severe pain, and prevents normal motor skill development.

Developmental delay in this condition occurs because the brain cannot transmit proper signals to the body or fully explore the surrounding world. However, early childhood brains possess incredible plasticity. Intensive, uninterrupted rehabilitation helps release muscle spasms, mobilize joints, form new neural pathways, and teach the child controlled movements — giving him a real chance at adaptation and a full life.
